There are many benefits to having a detachable camper, not the least of which is that you can take it with you when you need it and leave it at home when you don't--you don't need to own two vehicles if your camper can be hitched to your car (at around 1,000 lbs., most passenger vehicles can easily tow the nomad or dyad, and even the nest, which is equipped with brakes). You can also leave your camper when you want to go further afield; use it as a base-camp from which you hike in or canoe out for a few nights of tent camping, and then have the comforts of home when you return to your camper.
